হাসি পেলে হেস না 
কাশি এলে কেশ না 
পাক যত ভালবাসা  
কিছুতেই বেস না। 

তাড়াহুড়ো কোর না 
মরলেও মর না 
মিছিমিছি আকাশেতে 
চাঁদ তুমি ধর না। 

আলো অত জ্বেল না 
মাঠে নেমে খেল না 
পাখি সেজে গাছে চড়ে 
ডানা টানা মেল না। 

চান ঘরে না'বে না 
গানও সেথা গাবে না 
সবচেয়ে বড় কথা
খিদে পেলে খাবে না।

I have a fairy by my side 
Which says I must not sleep, 
When once in pain I loudly cried 
It said "You must not weep" 
If, full of mirth, I smile and grin,

When once a meal I wished to taste
