A KALEIDOSCOPE WORLD

Haiga 8

Note! This is a haiku on the monsoon rains in the city of Kolkata where I live. This part of the country is normally visited by heavy showers for months together (say, mid-June through October). The city is old and its drainage system needs major repairing. It was the capital city for most of the colonial period. It’s common for the city’s streets to get water logged for days together during the monsoon season. When this happens, normal traffic is badly affected. Cars, buses and bikes get abandoned on the roads. Such scenes have often reminded me of Venice, though Kolkata’s water logged streets are not exactly pretty. ©  2 hours ago,
